Adding online train ticket booking in Thailand

Ever since we launched Baolau we have been constantly looking for ways to facilitate transportation and ticket booking in Southeast Asia. Today, we take another step forward by rolling out online ticket booking for trains in Thailand.

Bangkok Railway Station

From now on travelers can use our website to find schedules and fares, and book tickets for the main railway lines operated by State Railway of Thailand: the Northern Line, the Northeastern Line and the Southern Line.

During the initial phase of the integration, we will connect a limited number of cities including Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phitsanulok, Nong Khai, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Ubon Ratchathani, Ayutthaya, Hua Hin, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Trang, Hat Yai, Padang Besar and Sungai Kolok and we will be progressively adding more stations.

For your consideration and guidance, we have prepared the following map of the railway network in Thailand.

Ticket booking is available 60 days in advance, however fares will open first for the long journeys of the railway line and fares for short journeys, for instance Bangkok to Ayuttahaya, Bangkok to Hua Hin or Trang to Surat Thani, begin reserved and will open later, usually 1-2 days before departure.

Hua Hin Railway Station

The process of online ticket booking is really simple. You can search for train routes between two cities in Thailand within your travel dates.

We will list the train services available -SPECIAL EXPRESS (SP), RAPID (RP) and EXPRESS (EX)- and you can compare the fares and select the most convenient for you.

Passengers waiting for the Train in Thailand

Since State Railways of Thailand introduced online ticketing in 2017, electronic tickets are valid boarding passes and can be used to board the train at the departure station. Passengers must print the e-ticket in advance and carry the printout while boarding. Please do not carry the e-ticket in your mobile phone or tablet as digital copies are not accepted.
